Ronald McDonald House of Dallas {RMHD} exists to serve and sustain families when serious illness or injury strikes the most cherished part of their lives, their children. They are the only organization that provides a temporary home-away-from-home for families whose children are receiving treatment for a serious illness or injury at a Dallas area hospital. The RMHD program was built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal, or where they will lay their head at night to rest. When I walk into RMHD, I am always greeted with warm smiles and kind hellos by both the staff and the families staying there. It’s an amazing place that is truly full of love and friendships. Since opening their doors in 1981, the RMHD has served over 33,000 families that come from all over the world, including 30 united states and 10 international countries. All of these families have a unique story, but all of the guests of the RMHD have a common bond. Together, they provide a support system for each other. I encourage you to “like” their Facebook page so you can learn more about their stories and how they have been helped by RMHD. Such as Blake’s story that you can see here who also just received the “Stand Tall” award for his triumph through adversity by 2-time Super Bowl champ, Bethel Johnson. This is just one of the amazing families that I had the pleasure of meeting during my last visit. RMHD is more than just a house, it’s a source of healing and hope.
