When planning, Abbey knew that she wanted to incorporate downtown Dallas along with a more natural setting to give her a couple of different looks. And nothing makes me happier than seeing all of that come together for a unique, customized senior portrait session! She sure made it easy on me and was such a trouper trekking from spot to spot with a broken ankle, of all things. Abbey is on the Sweetheart Drill Team at Centennial High School, so we knew that we wanted to capture her in her uniform. And let me tell you, we used *every* last bit of light, but it all worked out perfectly and made for a fun way to end our session. You can see a couple more of my favorites here and here. Abbey, I loved my time with you and your mom and can’t wait to hear what college you decide on. Any of them will be lucky to have you, *but* my big ‘ole Red Raider heart sure hopes Texas Tech makes the cut. 😉 [Read more…]
DOWNTOWN DALLAS | graduating senior portrait photographer
It’s that time of year again when I get to work with the most wonderful graduating seniors from all over the metroplex. I love, love it! And this session was no different. I had such a great time with T and his mom as we made our way around downtown Dallas. He will be graduating from Highland Park this spring and since he is not originally from Texas, Mom wanted to be sure and incorporate some of the beautiful surroundings of this area into his images. Fun, right?! T is a laid back, casual guy with a great sense of humor. Of course I loved having him in front of my lens, but I also really enjoyed getting to chat with him and his mom throughout the session. And yes, if you saw a photographer shooting in the bushes on your way to see Phantom of the Opera, it was probably me. I have no doubt how crazy I look during sessions, but I really have no shame… I’ll do just about anything for the shot. 😉 [Read more…]
BEFORE THEY LEAVE | mckinney, tx family lifestyle photographer
All you need in the world is love and laughter. That’s all anybody needs. To have love in one hand and laughter in the other. -August Wilson
Both older brothers are headed off to college soon so Mom wanted to be sure and get everyone together for some pictures before they leave. And I absolutely adore how they turned out! So much love and laughter in these images and even an epic tickle war {see it in action below}. I had the pleasure of working with D and J last year for their senior portraits so it was awesome to have them in front of my lens again with Mom and siblings. I have really enjoyed getting to know this sweet family! As excited as the boys are to start this next chapter in their lives, I know that they are going to miss their family and their family is certainly going to miss them. Thank you B Family for spending an afternoon with me and for having so much fun doing it! [Read more…]
BIG CITY. LITTLE DOG. | dallas, tx lifestyle pet photographer
Sydney, our little shih tzu, loves to go on adventures with us, so this time around I decided to bring my camera along too. With the recent cool front, it made for a perfect summer afternoon in Downtown Dallas. She was mesmerized by all of the traffic zooming past The Majestic and enjoyed getting to explore a new park. I didn’t go full-out paparazzi, but I did manage to get some really fun images. It was a nice balance of documenting, while not being behind a camera the whole time… something I’m constantly trying to manage.
And you may have noticed that I’ve been putting together more and more animated images lately. I’m obsessed with them… but in a good way! 😉 I think it’s so awesome to be able to bring a little bit of life into my photographs as an additional way of storytelling. This is by no means a new concept in the photography world, but I’ve been enjoying putting them together as a special little bonus from my sessions. I hope you guys aren’t growing tired of them because it’s not likely that I’ll be stopping anytime soon. In fact, I’m excited to be exploring other techniques and hopefully expanding on this as an official offering for all of my sessions. Be sure and stay tuned, but in the meantime I hope you will enjoy the images from our latest outing. [Read more…]
NEW YORK CITY | dallas, tx lifestyle photographer
Earlier this month I got to go on the most amazing trip to New York City with the most amazing group of photographers for the Pinkle Toes Workshop Reunion. It was a whirlwind of non-stop fun around the big city that was full of laughing, walking, eating, more walking and most of all lots and lots of picture taking. But my favorite part of it all was all of the new friendships made… what a wonderful group of talented ladies with big, kind hearts. I will always treasure the memories we made that weekend and look forward to keeping in touch with everyone. Be sure and scroll all the way to the end of this post and follow the blog circle to see how everyone else saw the city through their lens. And if you’re on Instagram, you can see some of my iPhone images here and search #pinkletoesnyc to see more snaps from our adventures. [Read more…]
OLD SOUL | dallas, tx graduating senior portrait photography
He likes listening to classic rock & roll, watching old episodes of Doctor Who and reading whenever he gets a chance. He’s accomplished and mature beyond his years. An old soul that will not hesitate one second to share how much his Mom means to him {LOVE that}. What a joy it was to be around them both for his graduating senior session. As we traveled from spot to spot in Downtown Dallas, I really enjoyed learning more about him and his plans for the future. I love that we did portraits in his JROTC uniform and that we were able to incorporate his love of music. He was a *really* great sport as his main goal was to give his Mom some photos she could enjoy for many years to come. Mission accomplished… what a wonderful young man! He is already well on his way, but I wish him nothing but the best. PS – check out this behind the scenes photo that his sweet Mom took during the shoot. Such a fun afternoon!
COCOA KISSES| dallas, tx family lifestyle photographer
“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” -Anatole France
Her name is Cocoa and she is the most lovable fur baby that will totally melt your heart with her kisses. She has some really awesome parents too! I loved getting to help document their time together during this special session. We even managed to squeeze in a little happy hour complete with beer, wine and some fancy water for Ms. Cocoa. And don’t Bret and Suzanne make the cutest couple?! Their love for each other is undeniable and it was so sweet to witness Bret’s helpfulness with everything during the shoot. You can tell how much he cares about both of these beautiful ladies. I’m so glad that they took the time to have this session so that they can fur-ever have these happy images. You can see how much they all love each other and that makes my heart really full. I’m honored that they chose me to help capture it all! [Read more…]
THE PERFECT MIX| dallas, tx graduating senior portrait photography
From Downtown Dallas to wildflowers, this session was the perfect mix of urban and natural settings for Taylor’s senior portraits. We worked together closely to create a unique session and I could not be happier with how everything turned out. And don’t you just love her in those yellow flowers?! We had to work hard to find them, but it was so worth it. Taylor, you are pure sunshine! Thank you for being so wonderful to work with. I really enjoyed our time together and wish you nothing but the best! [Read more…]
BELLA FAMIGLIA | dallas, tx family lifestyle photographer
When Mom suggested that we do their session at their pizza restaurant, Cane Rosso, in Deep Ellum, I could not have been more excited. Dad is responsible for bringing authentic Neapolitan masterpizzas to the DFW area that will make your tastebuds jump for joy. Seriously… so *good*! And it’s no secret how much they adore their sweet fur babies. Afterall, Cane Rosso does translate to “red dog” so it was perfect that they could join in on the action too. They are a beautiful family full of personality and a whole lotta fun. It was a real treat getting to work with them in capturing their story. See more images… [Read more…]
LIFE’S GREATEST BLESSING | dallas, tx family lifestyle photographer
… is the love of a family. The way they all look at each other and laugh together, it’s contagious and such a joy to be around. I have been looking forward to this ever since meeting them at big brother’s senior session in the Spring. Now that D is away at college, Mom and Dad wanted to be sure and get everyone together for family portraits during his visit home for Thanksgiving. Such a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday and how thankful they are for each other. It was a real treat to help capture that for them. And Mom totally deserves an award for coordinating everyone’s outfits… so stylish and perfect for our locations. Thank you B family for being *you*… I love the way you guys love.
